Rosannasfriend: great lesson!!!
kcjaymes: jaime leeeee!!!! you are outstanding!!!
lixxycharm: Hey Brett, I love Singing Success! You're like the new Seth Riggs for the newer generation.
312ivan312: hahahaha this is so funny hahaha
demulla: Every video I have seen has had the students scream or yelling at the top. Seems pretty unhealthy.
annsbis22: whats treals? trills?
DJGuitarist4God: It's not screaming... It's properly placed belting. When a belt is properly done, it doesn't hurt, and is actually a really healthy vocal technique if done right.
demulla: Hmm...I would agree with that if what he is asking for is a more supported sound, but take a listen at around 2:00 mark. He asks her to do a faster attack, but instead of bringing the support from the diaphragm he is raising his larynx and tightening his throat. It is something to notice and try to avoid, because once that larynx gets raised and you constrict the airway the sound gets pressed and thin. I certainly am no expert, but what I have heard is that isn't a healthy approach.
demulla: Actually, it is most noticeable at 2:30...he doesn't stop her and she is really pinching down to manufacture that sound.
demulla: I know I keep posting, but some of the stuff toward the end I just know is unhealthy. If you start each sound with a glottal (3:10) you are instantly constricting your airway and adding tension which will make you tired. Don't believe me, try singing through a whole album by Paramore (or All American Rejects for the guys) the same way they do and I bet 9/10 people will get vocally tired. It sounds alright, but it isn't healthy.
Q2IN2Y: great teacher.
