The Bluejackets Manual - Part 1 Video

Made by the March of Time for the U.S. Navy during WWII, "The Bluejacket's Manual" uses primarily pre-war footage to describe the ships of the fleet. It features footage of every type of warship, including battleships, cruisers, destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarines and patrol boats, as well as auxilliaries such as oilers, ammunition and hospital ships, repair vessels and seaplane tenders. Some of the locales seen in the film include Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal. Individual vessels that can be identified in the film include PT-11, PT-13, PT-10, PT-18, USS Fanning (DD-385), USS McDougal (DD-358), USS Phelps (DD-360), USS Porter (DD-356), submarine S-45 (one of the S-42 class boats), and submarine N-2 (SS-54).
