Chocorua Ski and Beach Club is a wonderful development located in Tamworth, NH. The association consists of almost 200 homes with a good combination of year-round and vacation homes. Association members share a gorgeous beach with views of Mount Chocorua on Moore's Pond. Moore's Pond is a freshwater lake measuring 43 acres. It has an average depth of 12 feet and a maximum depth of 30 feet. There is no public access to the pond but the residents share the 540 feet of community beach. Sugary white sand and a shallow entry characterize the water front. Near the beach there's a picnic and barbeque area. There is a swim float and day dock for member's sue. While sun bathing at the beach, one cannot miss the scenic view of Mt. Chocorua. Mount Chocorua is one of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. At an elevation of 3,490 feet (1,064 m) it is the easternmost peak of the Sandwich Range. The Sandwich Range extends east-west about 30 miles from Conway, New Hampshire on the Saco River to Campton on the Pemigewasset. Although the range is not outstanding for its elevation, it is very rugged and has excellent views of the surrounding lakes, mountains, and forests. Mount Chocorua is uniquely situated, and its bare summit can be seen from almost every direction. Many trails ascend the mountain, which is also the source of mystery and legend. Chocorua's summit is a picturesque rocky cone, and the mountain is purported to be one of the most photographed in the world (AMC Guide, page 310). One of the most photographed sites is from Chocorua Lake, which often casts a perfect reflection of the mountain top. Mount Chocorua is a popular destination for hikers. Although it is under 3,500 feet in elevation, its bare and rocky summit commands excellent views in all directions. Since most trails begin at much lower elevations, a hike to the summit is a strenuous exercise. There are many trails up the mountain, and they can be quite crowded during the summer months. Especially popular are the Piper Trail (4.5 miles each way from the east), the Champney Falls Trail (from the north), and the Liberty Trail (from the southwest). The Chororua Ski and Beach Club Association also offers a tennis court, basketball court, playground and instant access to miles and miles of trails for cross country skiing, snow mobiling and walking. In 1998 the association purchased 44 acres of land that can be used for member activities which include hiking, bike riding, walking, riding ATV's and snowmobiles. The entrances for the land are at the end of Mason Drive and Nickerson Drive. Located in the Chororua Village of Tamworth, the Ski and Beach Club is readily accessible from Rt. 16, the major northern corridor. North Conway and major northern ski areas are 20 Ã¢â�¬â�� 60 minutes away. Mt. Cranmore is located in N. Conway; Bear Peak and Attitash in Barlett; Black Mountain in Jackson, and Wildcat Mountain in Pinkham Notch and Cannon Mountain in Franconia. North Conway is home to many retail outlet strips. The Christmas Tree Shop, LL Bean, Lowe's, Home Depot, Wal-mart and Shaw's are just a few of the stores just a short drive away. Even closer is King Pine in East Madison.
