Far away from the hustle and bustle of Greater Mumbai, advocate Karim Vakils retirement home in Panvel was that made the idea of retirement seem sweeter. Now however Vakil can hardly sleep sound in his sprawling farmhouse at Wakdi village for fear of the ticking bomb that may go off if the Indian railways plans for a dedicated freight corridor fall into place.Under this corridor that will stretch between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Uran and New Delhi lies a high-pressure gas pipeline that passes between Dahej in Gujrat and Uran, only six feet below the ground. Are we waiting for another Bhopal Gas tragedy? Was the toll from that incident not enough, says a panicky Vakil.
