Flash Demo - T-Mobile Touch Pro2 - Skyfire Phone Browser Playing YouTube Flash Video Video

Part 1 - Skyfire playing YouTube video direct on my HTC Touch Pro2 by T-Mobile.

I used the phone's Opera browser to travel over to Skyfire.com and install the Skyfire browser. (Sorry Opera and Internet Explorer.)

Download was easy. By the way, although the Touch Pro2 uses a stylus it is still considered a touchscreen phone.

You need to know this because on Skyfire's site it asks to select if your phone is a touchscreen, or not. Select touchscreen.

Not a big deal if you select the wrong one, it tries to install and if it's wrong it tells you "sorry, not correct." Go back and pick the other one. Not bad, 50/50 shot at doing it right. LOL.

After install I went to YouTube to see it play flash files. It played the file, as you can see in this video.

Oh, I am in San Francisco and this was playing at 3G speed.

What is the big deal? Basically, the U. S. based Android Cupcake operating system for the G1 and myTouch do NOT play flash files.

They are working on an upgrade to allow such, but for now you are out of luck; go to any site playing flash, it won't play.

In other words, the Skyfire browser plays flash files such as on YouTube or Hulu, Cupcake cannot.

How to get the free Skyfire browser: you can download it on to your PC and install it later on your phone, through MS Windows Mobile Active Sync.

Or you can access Skyfire via your phone's browser (I recommend this, it's fast, it's easy).

If you access the site via your phone, Skyfire's site will silently detect you are using a WinMo browser. It will then automatically go directly to the download page where it will ask the above touchscreen or not question.

In other words, no searching around on the site to find the download page, Skyfire does that for you.

unonice: youtube comes installed on HTC TOUCH and TOUCH PRO.... versions 1 & 2 ... skyfire lets u watch hulu..cnn.. anything u do on your computer ... can do on HTC PHONES with SKYFIRE WEB BROWSER !!! GET AN HTC and download SKYFIRE ... ITS FREE .. EASY.. I CAN HELP U ... NO PROBLEM... ANYTIME...
