Marion McKay, bj, dir: Ambrose Barringer, t / Leroy Morris, c, ss, as / Doc Marshall, tb / Ernie McKay, cl, bcl, ss, as / Russell Mock, as / Henry Lange, p / Ed Johns, bb / Al Anderson, d. Richmond, IN, December 16, 1924.
This recording has a solo by Leroy Morris, once thought to be by Bix Beiderbecke.
Atticus70: This rare record is unfortunately in V condition. I have never seen a better copy. The only reason why I post it is the cornet solo. It was thought for many years that Bix played it. In my opinion, it's quite obvious that it's not Bix playing the solo.
jazzgirl1920s: Not that bad condition on the recording here. Sounds a lot better than the version I have on an lp. First time I heard it I said no way is that Bix even though at one time it was thought to be him. Nice record though.
Atticus70: OMG, there is a version of this sounding worse? Hard to believe... I had to record this 4 times, with 1.8 thou, 2.0 thou, 2.3 thou and 2.5 thou connical stylus because it was so extremely hard to tell with which stylus it sounded the best without the restoration work. Without restoration, the music at the beginning is nearly inaudible. It's a 1.8 thou by the way, like the Rhythm Jugglers record. For me, it's also obvious that this can't be Bix...
