In regards to cholesterol - those who have a high level of cholesterol consumption greatly increase their risks of health complications - Vegans have an extremely low risk of enduring these complications due to their exceptionally low cholesterol levels - in accordance with this, many months ago I shifted from drinking organic milk, and eating free range eggs to drinking only Rice Milk, Soy Milk and/or Almond Milk - as for eggs, I've simply chosen not to consume them any longer with no replacement desired.
I hope you make the right decision too, and lower your intake for the sake of your health. Veganism is a great option -- vegetarianism is a good one as well (not as effective).

Inferfire: The whole point of vegetarianism is to live more sustainably, for humanity... Animals are not just there for fun or for food. Animals in the wild help speed up the process of cleaning our ecosystem. Butterfly's spread seeds of plants, insects decompose materials and turn waste into nutrient rich soil, that plants use, certain predators make sure there are not enough pests eating plants and so on. The ecosystem is dependent on everything; water quality, animal work, and recycling of soil.
alexanderdhaenens: Yup. Let's talk about the circle of life. Carbondioxide in the air lets plants create organic molecules. Herbivores eat those plants. Carnivores eat the herbivores. When things die they release the carbon the had in them. System is tested and approved by evolution. So tell me. At the rate that we use things today, it will be impossible to live in the future. In 100 years from now, we might not have clean water anymore, in 100 years from now humans will be in danger of starvation around the world.

I would love to be a vegetarian because I love animals and also do petitions for them etc. but I can't be a vegetarian because I'm allergic to nuts, seeds, soy, lactose, most vegetables and most fruits. meat is one of the only things I can eat, and I wouldn't be able to keep on a vegetarian diet because i would eventually die. But I do eat meat from animals that have been treated right, but that's all I can do.. sorry :\
