God and Love

Islam (a commitment to live in a harmonious alignment with the Divine Law (Sharriah Law) that is created by God Alone for the benefit of humanity -- and this brings about peace within one's own 'self' and through interactions with others, within the entire human community)]. One of the teachings of Islam that has been widely distorted is the nature of God's love towards humanity in general, but towards an individual.

God's attributes of love and mercy begin to unfold as one reflects on the Qur'an (which contains God's perfectly chosen words that have tremendous amount of richness and depth) and when one goes through an actual transformation through it and has 'experiences' with the presence of the Divine Reality. It's then, and only then, one wants to prostrate to Him with a profound sense of gratefulness.

This is an exposition of the Islamic teachings on the subject of divine love, forgiveness, salvation, etc. From this exposition it will become clear that:

for the most part the assumptions made by some people about Islamic teachings, the most basic of which is that Islam knows only the greatness of God but not fully His love, are incorrect, being based either on ignorance or deliberate distortion of facts; and
Islam contains the best of teachings of previous revelations on this subject and states them in rational language.

wallidjan: The most fundamental belief that a Muslim has is that "There is only One God," the Creator, the Sustainer -- known in the Arabic language and by Muslims as Allah. Allah is not a foreign god, nor an idol. Arabic-speaking Christians use the same word for the Almighty.

OccamKant: It's interesting that this cleric starts off saying that the TV is a powerful tool for mind control. I agree - look at Fox Nooz. But it's pretty hypocritical for someone who works for the oldest, most far-reaching mind control service (religion) to come down on the competition.

OccamKant: In fact, EVERY SINGLE criticism he has about television can be reflected back on religion. It's also funny that he talks about how the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer - look at Saudi Arabia. The division between the rich and poor there, and in abu dabi and dubai, is FAR greater than the division between the rich and the not-rich in north america.

Mrmoc7: Religious people complain that Atheists love life too much, yet they (religious folks) are the ones who're really obsessed with immortality. Unlike the religious people, the Atheist is courageous enough accept that when he's dead, he's really DEAD. Those of religious persuasion on the other hand, retain the extremely improbably hope of surviving the biological degradation of their brain. Why are religious people afraid to REALLY DIE?

saaitar: What...loosing your exclusiveness for brainwashing? Yeah, priests are complaining too. Less brainwashed masses, less money for you...Poor muslim fanatics. And that thing about being a believer and being considered a backward, less intelligent person? What exactly is wrong with that statement? You are just people believing in fairy tales. That surely says something about your intelligence, ain't it? Go and blow something up, I have heard that makes you calmer a little bit...or try sex. It works!

saaitar: Yeah, but still, no matter how you call it, it is still and imaginary friend who love you so much that will torture you for eternity if you do not love him back...man, wear the trousers, loose the beard, try to enjoy your life instead of kneeling face down towards you holy city 5 times a day. Really man, somebody wrote a book 14 ages ago and you still base your life on it. Peace
