A Very Sad Looking CN 2502 Video

About a year and a half ago, after a new coat of paint, CN 2502 came shining down to Saint John and back on train 405/406. 18 months later, this unit looks like it's been through some times that the railway can bring. With one missing number board and some faded paint (although not as bad as the others), CN 406 west with 2502 heads through Rothesay, NB on it's last leg of the journey to Saint John.

northlander30: WOW great catch! Looks like 2502 has the number board opening patched over with paper lol. That is like 2506 I modelled this unit because of its trademarks. Faded paint with yellow numbers on one number board.
tjmfishing: where's the numberboard? nice spot to shoot though
unionp509: the cab looks different.
moon47mars: Love that Dash 9-44CWL!!!! 5***** video!!!!
Jeffwecker81: wonderful scenery! Looks like 2502 has been leading a hard life, but still looks good
CPManJoe: Nice horn! Great video too.
trainzandbridgez101: Poor Dash 8.
moon47mars: CN doesn't have any C40-8W's. They have C40-8M's. The lead is a Dash 9-44CWL or a C44-9WL. CN calls the (C) a Dash. So a C44-9W would be a Dash 9-44CW. The other locomotive/2nd engin is a Dash 9-44CW.
saintjohnrailfan: Yep, CN 2500-2523(I think) are the C44-9WL's. (4-window cab). The C40-8M's are the 2400 series units.
BNSF9192: You are incorrect sir. They are in fact C44-9WLs.
BNSF9192: CN does have a series of C40-8Ws called "Blue Birds" or "Blue Devils". These units were bought by IC from a LSMX leasing company. They are IC 2455 - IC 2466. They do have their original IC reporting marks as well.
moon47mars: Yes they do!!!! I forgot about those!! The CN blue units are local Illinois Centrals. I'm pretty sure that they are C44-8W's. You don't see them very often.
BNSF9192: I see them quite a bit on coal service here and also on our local. They are probably my favorite CN units. I love all the IC units as well lol
BNSF9192: That is a "canadian" cab. They have 4 windows instead of the standard two and they don't have A/C. This is the reason why many guys down here do not like those units. lol
moon47mars: I haven't seen any of those YET. But I'm sure I'll see them in the future railfanning!! Long live the IC!!
BNSF9192: Well who knows, you might see one.
moon47mars: I sure hope so!! I noticed that you channel icon is one of the C44-8W's!! Is it? Or is it a Conrail C40-8W?
BNSF9192: Actually that's a CN Blue Devil and it's a C40-8W, not a C44-8W.
moon47mars: NICE!!! I subbed!! And added as friend!!
saintjohnrailfan: I've been told by CN employees and fellow railfans that 2500-2522 are C44-9WL's. The rest of the Dash-9's are C44-9W's. I never asked what the L stands for..but I'm sure the 4-window cabs have something to do with it.
trainzandbridgez101: Ok. Sorry. It is in fact a Dash 9. I looked it up on the internet.
trainzandbridgez101: CN also has 2-window cabs. In fact, that makes up most of their fleet, next to the SD75I. Whereas a 4-window locomotive is rare on CN, other than SD60-Fs and C40-8Ms, which have 4 windows, but do have A/C.
BNSF9192: Yes, what I find funny is the fact that all the "true" CN units except for their new GEVOs and M-2s, have no A/C. SD75Is don't, SD70Is, C44-9LWs, SD60Fs, SD50Fs (retired), and C40-8Ms. I know there are others, but those make up a lot of their fleet. Now, I believe close to all of the IC units; SD70s, C40-8Ws, SD40-2s, etc had A/C. So in turn many guys here love them.
BNSF9192: C44-9WL*
