5-day programme to reawaken Jaffna.21.10.2009-itn news Sri Lanka Video

Thalmal Varuna is a novel programme, launched under the Jaffna reawakening effort. It will be staged in Jaffna for five days.
It is being arranged by the Tharunayata Hetak Organization. A group headed by its President Namal Rajapaksa left for Jaffna today. They received the blessings of the Maha Sangha including Chief Incumbent of the Gangarama Temple in Hunupitiya, the Ven. Galabada Gnanissara thera.
The Thalmal Varuna programme is aimed at passing on various benefits to the Jaffna civilians of Jaffna. Educational Seminars, Sports Programmes, distribution of 100,000 books, handing over of sports gear and reconstruction of a place of worship of all religions are planned in addition to opening a new swimming pool. There will also be a musical show. The Tharunayata Hetak Organisation said the main objective of the Thalmal Varuna 2009 programme was to improve education and sport talents of the young men and women of the North.
