About Green Day
No band elicits more of a reaction than Green Day, whose three decade spanning career has attracted as many fans as it has detractors.

Helmed by Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day began in 1987 as a boyhood band with friend and fellow Bay Area native Mike Dirnt, who met the misanthropic frontman while eating lunch in the Rodeo Elementary School cafeteria.

Green Day burst onto the punk scene in 1994 with their multiplatinum selling smash Dookie, whose singles Longview, Basket Case, and When I Come Around each charted at number one.

Armstrong and company would eventually grow tired of their stoner pasts and with 2004 album American Idiot embraced a new political inspired dogma that continues to tow the fine line between social activism and nihilistic complacency.
