LMichaelxxx: Static holds and gymnastics use a lot of isometric contractions which build strength at specific joint angles and this improves overall strength in the whole dynamic movement for various exercises.
wilki6467: are they any more beneficial than conventional lifting for strength?
LMichaelxxx: @wilki6467 I believe so because when I was 17 I could hardly do one full pull up. I then conditioned myself by doing isometric holds and negative contractions. This improved my strength when I started to do dynamic repetitions. Check my videos on my page mate for a bit of an insight.
