Dad Filed False Police Report, Led To Amber Alert Hoax!!! Video
A Flint father has admitted filing a false police report that led to the issuance of an Amber Alert Monday evening.
Ronald Poledore told police that his 7-month-old son was inside his car when was stolen from the McKinley Academy School parking lot in Flint just after 4 p.m.
Flint police immediately issued an Amber Alert for the boy, Trustin Sharon McClain, with a complete description of the toddler from his weight and height, down to the color of his clothes and eyes.
After an investigation and checking surveillance video from the school, police learned that the child was safe at home and neither the car, nor the boy was ever at the academy.
Poledore admitted to police the child was never in harms way, but thought police would be quicker to respond if they believed a child was inside the stolen car.
"It was my fault -- the way everything went," Poledore told afterward. "I do take responsibility for not getting the whole situation under control."
The child was found safe and sound inside a second-floor apartment at King Lane Apartments in Burton, in the care of relatives.
Police said the only thing true about Poledor's report was that the car was taken without permission. The vehicle was later found on Flints north side.
The father could be charged with a felony for filing a false police report.
Child Protective Services are also investigating.
Police worry that false informing threatens to dilute the immediacy of the Amber Alert system and the ability to help save the lives of children.
CPSSucks: yeah, watch, CPS will try to take his kids away. Demonic monsters never miss an opportunity.
