Distinguished Visitor Series with David Berlinski Video
David Berlinski, a leading critic of evolution within the intelligent design movement, will discuss his career and his books, including "The Devil's Delusion: Atheism and its Scientific Pretensions," with Dr. Marvin Olasky as part of The King's College Distinguished Visitors Series.
The conversation with Berlinski is part of "Darwin Week," commemorating the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin's "On The Origin of Species."
Berlinski is a secular Jew and an agnostic, who was described in a 2008 article in "Slate" magazine as a critic, a contrarian, and - by his own admission - a crank." He was born to Jewish-German refugees from Nazi Germany who fled to New York City. He received his Ph.D. at Princeton University, and was a post-doctoral fellow in mathematics and biology at Columbia University.
A true polymath, Berlinski has taught philosophy, mathematics and English at the college level. He has written books on philosophy and mathematics - as well as a popular series of detective novels starring the private investigator Aaron Asherfeld. In 1996, he wrote an article, "The Deniable Darwin," for the influential magazine "Commentary." The article made him a leading spokesman in the then emerging intelligent design movement.
TheScienceFoundation: replace critic with ignoramus and you're set, Berlinski truly knows nothing about biology whatsoever.
levonet33: Berlinski is one of the best biologist.
DoctorGmork: Nice Grammar, and he's not a biologist.
DStanTheMc: Berlinski is a smart dude lol and a good writer.
TransUnicorn: David Berlinski analyzes, researches and observes. That's what science is by definition.
OneDollarBook: In "Keep the Aspidistra Flying" I like the scene in the restaurant & his description of the lifeless/colorless food. Orwell had a way of ruining any meal. Although I admire the man for his contribution to quashing empire by exposing the elitists' plans for creating a hell-on-Earth, one must come to conclusion that ol' Eric Blair was not the neighborly type. One can't imagine him with a "Save the Manatee" license plate nor buying cookies from Girl Scouts.
