mikeferris13: why are we so worried about the insurance companies and their billions of dollars in profits? when did it become american to put profit over welfare when it comes to people's well-being. the only way the public option could put private healthcare out of business is if they are too stupid to 'compete'. with no competition, they will continue to raise premiums and drop coverage whenever the hell they want. does it really upset you to hear about private healthcare facing some competiton?

Without "tort reform" in regards to junk science lawsuits that drive up the costs of medical malpractice insurance which is passed on the consumers, there will be no "health care reform". Funny how some can so easily blame insurance companies but not the ambulance chasing trial lawyers. It is so narrow sighted. Obama is a lawyer, so it doesn't come as a shock to why he doesn't want tort reform.
