Midnight on the water on the Mandolin (L. Thomasson composition) Video

OK this is my attempt at Luke Thomasson's famous waltz composition *Midnight on the water*.

It is a lovely tune and I've always want to learn it. The Mandolin Cafe song of the week club gave me the inspiration to do it finally.

This effort has more mistakes than usual even for me (SORRY!!) But I promised myself I would upload the first effort regardless how it turned out just to try to force a flawless effort -- well obviously it didn't work.

On the good side its probably better than most of my first attempts! LOL!

fiddlenut24: good job! my favorite waltz
5041carol: Nice pickin.
Mandolin1944: Thank you! -- yes its a fine tune and a beautiful waltz as well. MOTW is one of those tunes that I think was just made for a mandolin -- I don't know why I waited so long to learn it?????
Mandolin1944: Thanks -- I just discovered that it actually sounds even better on the mandola -- so I might try posting that one too -- really like that song -- lovely.
mountnmonkey: I would say it's a first class effort by any standard. This is a beautiful, but I am sure a very difficult tune...5 stars from the mountnmonkey and the gang..
sizefam4: Top Notch Pickin' my friend! I was playing along with you....Great tune!
southcoastsounds: Very nice - its a pretty song. Its a good idea to record these tunes over a backing track.
Mandolin1944: Thanks! Its a great song for sure and fun to play too.
Mandolin1944: Very kind of you to say so. It keeps me on tempo (if anything can!). Thanks for watching.
marcuspoel: Great video Great ****
Mandolin1944: Well thank you! I took a look at your channel and I am certainly in awe of your musical talents -- both preformance and composition. It must be wonderful to be able to express yourself in music like you do! Thanks again.
tenorbanjoguy: Sounds really nice Bernie! The Gibson just sounds like the real deal! Great sound!!
Mandolin1944: Thank you Ken! I do love that old F-2 -- I've owned it since 1972 while in grad school. It was a wreck when I first bought it. But now I have a quandry because I just bought another one (1920) and I'll have to pick one of the two -- not much sense in owning 2 of 'em (<:
tenorbanjoguy: There are worse problems to have! :)
PossumJoesMando: Wow! I really like this song. Very crisp and your timing is perfect! By the way, I did a dry run video of Galway Hornpipe and in 2 weeks me and a friend should record the final version. I think you'll love it!
Mandolin1944: Thanks Joe! I look forward to seeing your Gallway!!
doccalley: Wow this I haven't seen any of your uploads for a while you are really getting much better -- great video!
Mandolin1944: Thanks for the comments -- I've improved? You couldn't prove it by me! I still make the same old same old mistakes!!! (<: If I could just find some talent...........anyway thanks much for the visit and comment.
