R160A F Train Arriving at 18th Avenue Video

A Coney Island bound R160A F train arrives at 18th Avenue on November 5, 2009 at 8:21 PM. Notice that there is another F train right behind this one, and i just got off an F train that left 2 minutes earlier. The F line is too congested. We need express service, period.

thesubwaynut: an express service between church and 18th avenues only saves you 1-2 minutes max. the reason for doubts on F express is the heavy usage of the local stations between church avenue and jay street

BMT7thAvenueExpress: I don't care about express South of Church Ave (It would be nice to railfan, but it's not necessary), but during the PM rush hours, it's needed simply because the trains are too close together for efficient service and too crowded at the same time. That's the bottom line. BTW, an express run kn the middle track (not a battery run) bet. 18th ave and kings highway takes about 1 minute and 45 seconds ( i timed it while on the train) and the local run takes 5-7 minutes.

thesubwaynut: if local trains are two crowded during rush hours, then i think express trains would simply make it worse, sort of like the Astoria Line in 2001.

BMT7thAvenueExpress: Not really. The Astoria express service didn't make any sense because there was one express stop on the whole line (besides QBP). If F express service would go in effect, people who live on 7th Avenue, Church Avenue, and any station south of Church Avenue would take the express (which would be a good amount of people) and people who live on Carroll Street, Smith street, 15th street, and Fort Hamilton Parkway (which is a lot of people) they would take the local. This would ease congestion

BMT7thAvenueExpress: continued from last post... because ~half the crowd would go on the express and half would go on the local. Trains cannot run closer together at this point. If you honestly have a better solution than express service to alleviate, please tell me.
