Pixiwoo Creative Masterpiece Contest Entry #3: Madame Butterfly Video
Hi Sam & Nicola- this is my third entry for your contest and I have been having a blast creating these looks! I had to think for a while what I was going to do next- and the other day I was looking through some old college theatre books and came across my copy of the Opera and Play Madame Butterfly by Puccini- and thought that Butterfly would be an interesting character to try and create on my face. The play is the story of a French Diplomat that meets and falls in love with "Madame Butterfly", who is a beguiling Chinese Opera star. They have a torrid love affair- but only in words- for by the ending scenes of the play you find out that, unknown to the diplomat, "Butterfly" is actually a man and a spy for the Chinese Government. Talk about a twist! Any how so for the makeup I decided to make Madame Butterfly -my modern version- the skin is not as light and the makeup is not traditionally what you see for Chinese opera-but it certainly is dramatic...So the final look is my view on what a Opera singing, spy drag queen would look like :) Hope you enjoy!
