Remember, at the peak of union strength in this country workers made on avg over $3 per hour more (around 1972) than they do now when adjusted for inflation. Members of unions I represent are the hardest working best trained employees you can find anywhere. sfwb212: I can remember in the 1970s, Lazy-boys in my hometown was trying to get a union. The people went on strike, the organizers arranged for foodstamps and the people got some assistance. The union was strong and they stood up for the workers, but after the founders retired. The once mighty union then became weak to the point that management told the union what was and was not! The people still had to pay the DUES. Maybe in the early days there was not enough freedom to choose!!!!
