Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship passenger Video
SAN DIEGO — An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Sector San Diego safely transported a passenger from a cruise ship approximately 170 miles south of San Diego, Monday afternoon.
The Coast Guard received a call from the crew of the cruise ship, Splendor, at 1:18 p.m., stating that a 56-year-old woman was suffering from acute abdominal pain and requesting a medical evacuation. A Coast Guard flight surgeon was consulted and recommended a medevac be conducted.
The helicopter crew launched from Sector San Diego to conduct the medevac. They arrived on scene at approximately 4:15 p.m., and hoisted the woman and a nurse from the ship.
The woman and nurse were transported to Coast Guard Sector San Diego and transferred to medical personnel in stable condition.
Virginislandsnow: Nice video!
smmenci: I was on this ship at the time. The rescue operation was very impressive. I wish I was closer to my cabin in order to run and get my video camera to record the rescue from the ship. The cruise was late sailing on Sunday afternoon due to a mechanical problem, and this rescue had us sailing back north for 3 hours as well. Despite all this, the crew of the Splendor got us to Puerto Vallarta only 2 hours late. Kudo's to the Coast Guard and the Captain and crew of the Splendor.
bf1sh: The ship at the beginning of the video doesnt look like the Splendor but the airlift portion does????
