Heavensatrophy: Since Medicaid, Welfare, Retirement, Banks, Medicare, Social Security, and hundreds of other programs. And to answer your question: it is because medical debts are the one of the largest problems in this nation and is ballooning faster than any other inflation rate in any other area in any other part of this world. Medical insurance doesn't just provide huge payouts, they help with smaller payouts that can still prevent families from going under. Preventive care, prescriptions, outpatient, etc.
cyberben3d: The question was, since when has government been "good" at determining who deserves the fruits of who's labor - and how did BANKS get on your list? Dude I'm assuming you have graduated high school so I'm hoping you realize that banks were not intended to be wealth redistribution devices? Or did you get confused and just start listing bankrupt government programs? I can't believe someone your age is that worried about medical inflation but if you are you should be worried about this bill.
cyberben3d: Yeah 80% of college kids maybe.
joestrummer2007: Sure, the Republican party controls FOX news, but Democrats have MSNBC, that's not what I'm talking about... I'm talking about the youth of America that are mindlessly indoctrinated by this leftist propaganda just because it happens to follow up South Park (which ironically is actually one of the smarter political shows on TV) on Comedy Central. I'm not necessarily knocking Jon Stewart for his show either, he isn't claiming his comedy show is news. It's just a sad commentary on our youth.
joestrummer2007: Most young people are democrats, not because of policies of the party, but because its glamorous. All they see is the Republican Party is the party of a bunch of stiffs in suits, while the Democratic Party is the party of all their favorite celebrities like Will Farrell and chanting "Fuck Bush!" along to Green Day songs... Who cares if their policies make sense.. Which one is cooler?
Heavensatrophy: "Banks" was sarcasm based on the bullsh... from people trying to propagate that Obama is going to take over all the Banks in the U.S. (Guess you didn't catch that one). Someone "my age" worried about "medical inflation?" Well, 1) that's not a term, and 2) it affects people my age more than anyone. Why should I be worried about this bill again? The only opposition I've heard thus far was based on lies.
Heavensatrophy: And yes, I did graduate high school. And I'm finished with college also. I am entering medical school hopefully at Harvard. So yes, I do think I know what I'm talking about. Devoting my career and future to medicine influences me to make wise and well-thought out decisions on policies that affect the health of this nation. What do you do?
Heavensatrophy: I love how I just got a negative on this. These are facts guys, it's already been discussed by neutral political theory. It's not refuted by scholars.
Heavensatrophy: Funny, someone will give me negative points on this, yet they don't have the nuts to actually try to prove me wrong.
Heavensatrophy: That's quite a stereotype. I've never done or though any of those thing. I don't think you understand political parties beyond what you can see superficially. You can't make the assumption that "most" young people are democrats because they feel it's glamorous. I could make an assumption that most young people who are Republicans are so because they are rich white snobs. We both know that's not true. Young adults are far more politically informed than older adults.
joestrummer2007: "These are the facts guys... It's not refuted by scholars." Wow, how could someone deny such overwhelming evidence... hate to play devil's advocate here, but just where'd you get these "facts"?
bucs2921: Check back after the 2010 elections.. America doesnt respond well to socialism.
ToTheConquered: Well, since socialism hasn't even vaguely happened, then the people can only react to the fear of socialism. What the people who voted for change will be pissed about is a lack of change. The only difference now, is we gave bunch of money to Wall Street, and that's not what those voters were crying out for. New parties will need to be formed to combat the corporatists.
cyberben3d: Well thought-out? Like the two thousand page sleaze fest that 60 Dems are trying to shove down our throats before Christmas? Trust me kid, you don't want government running your industry. Force is the only tool it has. Wherever your life intersects with government you will find yourself frustrated and powerless. You will be fighting them at every turn instead of worrying about your patients and it will rob you of the joy of your work. Talk to people who have been working for 10-15 years.
rubyhaleybenjamin: AHAHA. Love satire. <3 "and I'm not being sarcastic. not at all."
KingDingaLing090: Gallup and Rasmussen say 43% are strongly against it 23% strongly support it. That meansw EIGHTY PERCENT DO NOT SUPPORT IT. Like the ACTORS say on this stupid video. You must be a mindless drone who doesnt even know what best for yourself. You think its good to pass a 2000 + page bill most of the democrats never even read? YOU FUCKING IDIOT. Why whould you hand over 1/7th of the economy to a bunch of people who are robbing you blind? Answer: Because you are STUPID.
bucs2921: @ToTheConquered I agree , socialism hasnt "vaguely" happened...Its happeneing at lightning speed before our eyes...Nothing vague about it... We'll fix that next year though. :)
ToTheConquered: What socialism? Seriously? I'm dying to know what socialism. Name some socialist programs that weren't around 5 years ago?
ToTheConquered: the 80% comment on this video was obvious sarcasm. This is a comedy video. Do you not understand what sarcastic comedy is? Not even die-hard liberals like this bill being proposed by the corporatists congressmen/women. You're yelling at the wrong people. I think anger is a vital tool, but you have to be able to control it and you don't seem to be able to. You're not changing anyone's minds by calling them names.
NoGuff: "Name some socialist programs that weren't around 5 years ago?" --5 years ago General Motors wasn't owned by "the People." 5 years ago Chrysler wasn't owned by "the People," then by Presidential decree given to "the workers." And just for fun, 5 years ago we didn't have to read Miranda Rights to terrorists caught in Iraq & Afghanistan.
NoGuff: "few people even know what it means" --I agree, many people toss around words without knowing their actual meaning. I chalk that one up to our now lousy public education system because it's been overrun by Liberals. Students are indoctrinated now instead of instructed. Education is important. A proper education is priceless. "Can you even define that word without using "communism" or "socialism?"" --Yes. Marxism is a philosophy of class warfare.
joestrummer2007: @Heavensatrophy Maybe saying "most young people" was a bit strong, but it's no small number... trust me, I go to a liberal arts college and these stereotypical liberal douches are all over the place... the ones who wear their VOTE FOR CHANGE pin to accent their Bob Marley beanie and their Fuck Bush t-shirt... but when you ask em about the issues, they don't know shit... And you keep on mentioning Republicans and whiteness... You're one of those Great White Guilt guys, aren't ya?
ToTheConquered: You call GM and Chrysler socialist programs? lol
brianlugen: Yes govt can fix it? but only one little thing it will be control by more corrupt, brought out, poorly operate, inefficient, vote buying, political correctness, and greedy GOVERNMENT. other than why not let give us a "option". Because the govt is so much better than the rich?Lets face it all the rich do is invest their money back into the encomy and create more jobs, innovation, success, build america. That sounds like a bunch of hard work? Just let govt do it we can rely on them.
