Brazile: GOP Has No Alternative To Health Reform, "Name A Bill" Video
CNN's Donna Brazile and Ed Gillespie battle it out over whether or not "a Republican alternative plan" to health care reform exists.
"We've seen proposals; we've not seen a plan," Brazile said to Gillespie, before challenging him to name a bill that's been scored by the Congressional Budget Office.
groquecrushridge: The results you're projecting here aren't right, but the scenario would allow for more competition. I have the choice of about 7 insurance companies where I live. There are hundreds of unique insurance companies that exist in the US. I would personally rather choose from more options than just a few. The bad ones go bankrupt, and the good ones profit. Btw, the highest rejector of health care claims is Medicare. Government is the problem, not the solution.
greyflcn: re: groque That last bit might have something to do with the fact that 40% of the US population is covered by Federal health programs already. Also if government is the problem, then why do countries with federal programs (i.e. pretty much all of them besides us) pay so much less, and get so much better results? greyfalcon. net/ healthcare Also, if "profit" is a measure of how little the money the consumer gives, is given back. How do you get "bad doesn't profit"?
groquecrushridge: Your points are all over the board wrong. Try this, food is WAY too important to leave in the hands of capitalists. The government needs to create "competitive options" to the greedy market. People are dying of hunger. You care about starvation, right? Your life-expectancy vs spending chart is apples and oranges. It's quality of life that's important. You can live in a dungeon for pennies a month and live a long (controlled) life. It also doesn't take into account types of death (non-health).
greyflcn: re: groque Same issue though. Food, from a raw nutrition basis is very cheap. The main difference in costs is aesthetic (taste and visual) What's more, as I'm sure you're aware. Corn and Soy, the basis of most foods in America, is highly subsidized. Further, back in the 1950's food was so expensive that it was the basis of the federal poverty rates in the US. And even still we have food stamps.

greyflcn: re: groque Dentists in India? What? Oh, or are you honestly comparing that to health in countries like Germany, France, England, Canada, Sweden? All of which get far superior "quality" and quantity of care than what US citizens get.
greyflcn: re: groque Or actually, frankly that is largely the problem I was talking about. HR3400 is advocating for lowering costs, not by lowering overhead/proifit. But by removing all mandates for the quality of care and coverage. Now like I said, if you would care to go for the Swiss system, which is entirely private insurers. However has federal mandates on the minimum quality of care/coverage. I'd be perfectly fine with that.
groquecrushridge: Sorry, I didn't comment along with that, but here's an example of a procedure that probably cost a total of $3. You've been focusing a lot on the assumption that health procedures are hugely expensive and fixed in price. The dentist example simply shows that there are varying ways of cost to deliver a procedure, albeit this example is far into the lowest of quality and cost. Costs are climbing because government enforces an environment dependent on health care insurance.
greyflcn: re: groque Frankly, costs aren't the issue. The issue is prices. And the reason prices are going up is because the profit margin of insurance companies is going up. greyfalcon. net/ overhead3 greyfalcon. net/ overhead2
groquecrushridge: Up to 2%? AP news us_fact_check_health_insurance Doctors lose money when they have to treat a Medicare claim. And Medicare is the top percentage denier of claims. Government is the problem, and Republicans want to get Government out of the way. Government is what's driving high prices of health care. Back to the main topic, H.R.3400. Donna Brazile misrepresents what the Republicans are trying to do by saying they don't want reform. She lies.
greyflcn: re: groque That's medicare. And frankly I agree with that one portion of HR3400 which says that Medicare should move to a more fee-for-service approach. (Similar to how the Mayo Clinic, or Kaiser Permanente function) But then again, practically everyone agrees to that. AND, that doesn't really have much to do with the behavior of for-profit insurance.
bigtex501: CBS NEWS BROKEN PROMISES BY OBAMA "Chance to READ the bills" Sept 2008 obama... "When there is a bill that ends up on my desk as President, YOU the public will have **5 days** to LOOK ON LINE and find out whats in it BEFORE I sign it"! Sept 2009 Democrats voted DOWN even 72 hours to read ANY LEGISLATION due to.. "The STUPID American People" would **NOT be able to understand the wording** in these Bills and... it would be "TOO CONFUSING"!
bigtex501: CBS BROKEN PROMISES BY OBAMA "Transparency" obama.. "I will bring all parties together, & NOT negotiate behind closed doors, & broadcast those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are." Obama has announced deals with groups like the pharmaceutical industry & the insurance industry after they were worked out in backroom deals. Meanwhile, Baucus, not only shut out the public, but shut out most of his own committee from his "bipartisan negotiations."
bigtex501: CBS NEWS BROKEN PROMISES BY OBAMA "The Government to negotiate drug prices" obama.."We'll negotiate with the drug companies for the cheapest available price on drugs" LA Times "Tauzin (Chief Pharmaceutical LOBBYIST) secured an agreement with OBAMA! bigtex501: "LOWER PREMIUMS" (cont) CBO.. "For most preventive services, expanded utilization leads to higher, not lower, medical spending overall. The legislation from the Senate Finance Committee could result in higher premiums for customers. The insurance industry is threatening that the $6 billion industry-wide fee & other taxes Sen. Baucus has proposed will be passed on to consumers. This means It may be YEARS OR DECADES before any overall savings from obama's plans materialize.....if at all."
bigtex501: CBS NEWS BROKEN PROMISES BY OBAMA "LOWER PREMIUMS by $2,500 for a Family of Four" ???? obama "If you've got health insurance through your employer, you can keep your health insurance, keep your choice of doctor, keep your plan," obama said on 10-15-08 debate against McCain. "The only thing we're going to try to do is lower costs so that those cost savings are passed onto you. And we estimate we can ***CUT***the average family's premium by about $2,500 per year."

bigtex501: Jaron, Yeah, it's "unaceptable" to me when it's just ANOTHER broken promise by obamer & the Dems when all this started they said... "to ensure that ALL would get the health care coverage they deserve"! AND.. obamer used the number "47 Million" (which included 12 Million illegals)... and NOW under the current Senate Bill... there's 24 MILLION that won't be covered!!!! Under ANY business plan.... when a "plan" ONLY obtains HALF of it's goal... would be REJECTED BIG TIME!!! Get it yet????

"Guaranteeing that NO ONE is FORCED to change their H.C coverage is a HIGHER PRIORITY than giving choice of a "PUBLIC OPTION"!!!
jaroncreed: Wrong under the current Senate bill only 6 million will not be covered. Where do you get your lies from Hannity?
bigtex501: Jaron, Try reading the accounts of the Congressional Budget Office & the Congressional Research Service to get the numbers!!! However.... the numbers got WORSE in the Senate Health Care Proposal.... NOW it's 24 MILLION PEOPLE will NOT be covered under the Harry Reid Plan! But MORE importantly.. how much will this FORCED MANDATE to buy insurance cost YOU??? Watch for the next postings from the CBO... but you're NOT going to like what you see! Be ready to loose MORE of YOUR money!!!

TOTAL OF $7,300 a year, OR... ***17% of HIS pre-tax income***! A family earning $102,100 a year before taxes WILL PAY a $15,000 premium plus an estimated $5,300 in out-of-pocket expenses.. TOTAL OF $20,300, OR... ***20% of THEIR pre-tax income***!
bigtex501: SENATE HEALTH CARE PLAN Part 2 NOW leaves 24 MILLION people with NO COVERAGE! NOW gives $5,500 per person SUBSIDIES to 19M Americans! Allows Fed Funding of abortions!
