1mkwiet: Thanks, ya it has. I kind of didn't want to update cause everything is in a state of being unfinished. Then I realized this is a very important state because all builds go through a stage where things are in different stages of development, and it's good to see, document, and be comfortable that.

NoChikenStrips: i'm no expert, but like most reefers, research, wait, research more, wait more, and research even more, and wait even more : )

omfgsomental: Hm, im gonna be using the bean animal's overflow for my 55 gallon. But ive been wondering, do i really need the open channel? And how does the siphon start sucking? How do you get the overflow started? O:

1mkwiet: good choice of overflow. imo it's the best. Ok to answer your questions. From what I've experienced you need the syphon channel, the open channel and the upturned emergency channel. The only one I would even consider getting rid of is the upturned emergency...but I highly DO NOT recommend that unless it's a must. Without all three there's a likelyhood of a problem. With all three I can't see there ever being a problem. Smaller bulkheads/pvc give the room you need cause it's a small tank?

1mkwiet: I followed Beans design exactly. 1" bulkheads, 1.5" stand pipes. I'm pushing 1300 GPH through the system and I've got it dialed down 75% of what it would do....I could go smaler on my tank.. :)
