White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The first page
had written on the top right corner
"Go to 79"
So I went to 79
where it continued
"Go to 54"
I flipped the pages again
and again
I could tell it was a girl's writing
The smell of the book wafted up as I flipped the pages
To 240
where there was a note
"for a good time, call me!!"
I looked at the slip
in the back of the book
a girl's name
1987
22 years ago
no other checkouts
had she written that
just for me?
I dialed the number
Waited
