Boehner: Speaker Pelosi's Government Takeover of Health Care Will Dim the Light of Freedom Video

GOP Leader: Americans asking where are the jobs are getting more the same from out-of-touch Washington Democrats: more spending, more debt, and more government.

Washington, Nov 7 - WASHINGTON, D.C. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement shortly after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Democrats passed a 2,032-page, $1.3 trillion government takeover of health care:

I came here to renew the American Dream, so my kids and their kids have the same opportunities I had. I came here to fight big-government monstrosities like this bill that dim the light of freedom and diminish opportunity for future generations.

Americans want a common-sense approach to health care reform, not Speaker Nancy Pelosis 2,032-page government takeover that increases costs, adds to our skyrocketing debt, destroys jobs with tax hikes and new mandates, and cuts seniors Medicare benefits. Americans asking where are the jobs are getting more of the same from out-of-touch Washington Democrats: more spending, more debt, and more government.

Republicans have better solutions to lower costs and expand access to quality care especially for those with pre-existing conditions without adding to the crushing debt Washington has placed on our children and grandchildren. Our plan will lower premiums by up to 10 percent, making health care more affordable for families and small businesses. Thats what the American people want, and thats what Republicans will continue to fight for.

JohnLloydScharf: I prefer fighting wars abroad to fighting them at home.
JohnLloydScharf: How do Republicans have anything to do with someone's failure to understand? Have you read any of these bills, or do you wrongly assume Pelosi can write laws?
JohnLloydScharf: What is this? Two wrongs make a right?
schnico: polidoc, I'm sort of surprised you are looking to Bush 43 as the authority on how to treat the Constitution.
fandanstan: Is his name pronounced "boner" by any chance?
polidocproductions: It is surprising, isn't it. God knows GWB was adept and finding the public to pay for his special interests. I guess I'm still awaiting the nails to come out of that constitutional coffin.
polidocproductions: capitulations to resistant conservahogs has made this bill a mess. Thank GOD someone, (Boehner) who was paid $3.7 million in campaign contributions, stood up for the insurance companies cause gamblin (or payin somthin for nothin) is America's greatest addiction.
polidocproductions: I thought America was made up of entrepreneurs, but this reliance on the greater spirit of good - which hasn't been doing so well in these United States - would have everyone sucking for their healthcare security from a corporate tit. As an entrepreneur myself, I have to spend a fourth of my income on health care - a fourth! And there isn't even anything wrong with us. Healthcare int eh US costs 50% more than in any other Western country. Fiscally conservative? NOT.
polidocproductions: I feel like the special interests of the West are dwarfed by the over-representation in the Senate of barely populated states.
Freedomwarrior2: The special interests are whats killing the country, especially the west and east coast free lunch crowd.
Gooodwitch: this is the best info i have seen so far on the bill
polidocproductions: Seems like free lunch is being served in plenty of the smaller states where senators can get a bridge built to nowhere, while a state like California is treated as a colony, providing more to the Fed than is ever returned, producing more than its sustainable capacity of food for the rest of the U.S. It's always a bit more complex than left and right, city and country. But we do agree that special interests are killing the country. We just might not agree on what those special interests are :/
tdurran: Did you actually listen to the video? The idiot in the video says Americans don't understand what Cap and Trade means. Did you actually read my comment? Your reply suggests you didn't understand it.
memama2: iheartmma - my Canadian auntie went to the local ER & had a DEATH/Migraine & got A BED ONLY!......they started to try some treatment & a Doctor when they found her in a Coma! You see in Canada they use a Calendar? (yep) to treat people. In AMERICA = we use a ~second hand on a WATCH~ to treat trauma & EMERGENCIES! My poor aunt lost her job; does not travel and ended up divorced and totally disabled and stroke on one side of arm & leg. She is the POSTER CHILD for "Obama CRAP CARE" =comin here soon
iheartmma: What's wrong with keeping the system we have in place, but just reforming it? Must you resort to the typical liberal tactic of changing subjects and trying to shift the focus to something else? And you want to bring up campaign contributions? How about the reported $980 million from "unknown" sources that fueled the presidents campaign? How come he doesn't disclose where the money came from? You've got some tough questions to answer.......good luck! lol
Dubyaify: As far as his exchange with Rangel is concerned, the point Boehner was making here is if it takes the Stupak amendment passing to get the underlying bill to pass, then the Democrats are all for it; only to use that as a tool to get what they want and then toss that in the hopper at some 3:09 a.m. as well. Why even bother holding a vote at all if something can be scrapped at will?
andotech: From where does Boehner get his health care coverage? Oh yeah... the American tax payers pay for it! How nice of us...
SSGTVDOG: "The shining light on the Hill" has dimmed in the last 10+ months. John Boehner at least speaks the real truth. Obamba and the Democrats = Communists wants to destroy America, once and for all. Welcome your New World Order you dumb ass Liberal - Socialist - Communist . There are many more that will fight this shit then you think!
polidocproductions: I'm completely about constitutional, campaign and electoral reform as well has insurance reform. Unfortunately, no one is talking about insurance reform. Preventative care, eye and tooth care would also add to overall nat'l well-being. We need a holistic response to our health care needs and we need corps and politicians to behave responsibly. Frankly, I'm in favor of promoting free medical college to all qualified candidates who intend to become doctors, nurses and dentists. Crazy, I know.
towerdawg1976: Boehner, your a jackass liar!!!!!!!!!!
Dubyaify: "Requires the commissioner to "issue guidance on best practices of plain language writing"."
Troneous: it's so funny how Democrats are just not financially literate enough to understand that the healthcare bill proposed especially by the Democrats will be catastrophic financially and constitutionally in terms to our personal liberties.
JohnLloydScharf: You would rather fight terrorists in NYC and LA than Baghdad and Kabul.
JohnLloydScharf: Do you call everyone who disagrees with you an idiot?
tdurran: No. I don't. I keep that in reserve for people of diminished intellect.
