wabdinur: The worst thing a a victorious army can do after capturing a country is staying too long. If they stay too long, the occupied population will learn their behavior. They will learn your strengths and your weaknesses and they will take advantage of that. Back in Somalia, Aidid learned that Americans don't leave their fallen brothers and so he planned to trap a few of them in order to get all the rest of American troops to change their raiding objectives to a search and rescue operation.
wabdinur: In Afghanistan, I noticed that most of the battle engagements are initiated by the Taliban who are undetected and they usually disappear before any air-strike arrives. That means that they have calculated the timing it takes to pin down a unit of troops and the time it takes for that unit to call in an air-support. There are videos captured by American soldiers in which the Taliban recorded and in those videos, you see the Taliban in few feet away from US soldiers-just stalking.

tkdnb07: the US bailed on afghanistan, handed it over to other NATO countries like mine, Canada. Im a Canadian soldier and we do more for afghanistan then the americans, simply because we are there! 5% of our military is in afghanistan! thats a big piece of our armed forces. We made a commitment and we will stick to it, not run off chasing imaginary WMD's, while secretly dealing for oil control in the middle east.
