full layout tour (11 minutes) Video
if you've got the time, this is the whole tour from three sides and inside... Urban model railroad set in NYC, Fall 1959 with subway el and underground station, waterfront, tugs, and lots of details.
ROCKDOG5732: I love the details in this layout. Keep up the good work thanks for sharing 5 stars ROCKDOG5732
TrainGuy18: looks like NYC when I use to live there
DaBlackNinja1: What scale? HO?
subwayfx: H.O. scale. The layout is 8'x10' Check out pictures of it on Flickr under subwayfx.
subwayfx: Thanks, buddy!
puttrainguy: The clothes lines between buildings and roof antenna brought me right back to Bailey Ave.. And a stickball game ? Your subway station is extremely well done too.. Remeber the penny chicklet machines on the platforms ? My hat is off to you Sir !!! this is favorited and will definately be sahred... Thanks for the tour, I will definately watch it a few times and still see new details, I'm sure. This is so NY...
subwayfx: Bailey! I lived over the Punch Bowl bar at 238th & B'way from '73 to '80. Hung out with friends at 230th & Kingsbridge, shopped at 231st, etc. I'm really glad this brings you back, that's the greatest compliment I could ever hear, so thanks! As for O scale, you are in luck if you know the Artista Line of figures. I think they have pigeons, too, and a way cool hot dog stand like the Sabrett guys back in NY. You just made my day, buddy.
subwayfx: I'm SO glad to hear that. That makes me feel like I am getting something right here. Much thanks!!!
puttrainguy: I grew up there from '62-'73. We had the best of trains there, right across the street from me was the Degan, but past that was the old Put line which still ran some freight when I was a kid, then a 2 minute walk to Broadway & 225th gave you both what's now the MNRR tracks & the El with the lift bridge. It was a train nuts dream... lol
subwayfx: I used to walk the tracks into Van Cortlandt Park. There was a tiny station back then, falling apart. I still have an old spike from there. Thanks for sharing the memories and for making my day.
bravosixxx: Man.......This was a real Treat. Kudos to you my friend! You have done such a stellar job that words cannot describe. 10/5 stars......Dick Clark Rockin'!!!!
Fil7s: Congratulations ... Your recreation of NYC in the fifties left me speechless. So many little details ... The opening scene "under the El" could have been taken from a movie. Simply amazing ... Greetings from Belgium
subwayfx: Thanks so much for your kind words. I appreciate it! Happy Holidays!
