The taxi stopped in front of the familar drive way of my childhood home. I got out paying the driver and retrieved my bags from the back. I was finally home.
I walked up the driveway, taking in everything. All the familar smells and sights. I can't believe I'm home.
I walked up to the front door turning the knob. I was expecting to only be greeted by my mom, but instead was scared half to death by a crowd of people screaming surprise.
I nervously smiled at the crowd of people.
"Wasn't expecting that," I said.
Everyone laughed like I was making a joke.
"Happy Birthday sweetie!" My mom called as she approached me giving a bear hug.
"Mom, I missed you." I hugged her back. As much as I hate my mom sometimes, I missed her work-a-holic self.
"Mommy, why did you do this to me?"
"What do you mean?" she asked utterly confused.
"Mom, the party. I'm obviously talking about the party."
"I just wanted to surprise you sweetie," She answered with a genuine smile.
"Well you certainly surprised me." I looked around the room at the people staring at me.
I said bye to my mom so I could freshen up.
I ran up the stairs, carrying one of my bags, up to my old room.
Why did she have to throw me a party? I just came home to celebrate with her and then go back to Italy. But no, she has to invite the whole damn neighborhood, because Peyton's home!
I sighed opening my door.
I smiled. She didn't even change my room at all. It looks like it hasn't been touched in years. I sat down on my made bed, and looked around. I looked at the blue painted walls smiling to myself.
I pulled my sweatshirt off and pulling a white flowy top out of my suitecase.
I dug in to the bottom of my suitcase pulling out some red pumps, sliding them on.
I ran my fingers through my hair really quick before I headed out of my room.
I stepped out of my room and walked downstairs back in to the party.
No one seem to notice me come back to the party, so I made my way to the freshments table going straight for the alcohol. Hey it's my 21st birthday, I don't care if there's kids here, I will drink if I want to.
I picked up a wine glass filling it up to the brim with whatever substance I could find.
"Oh yeah, that's a great idea."
I turned around and smiled broadly.
"Kevin!"
He pulled me in to a hug.
"My other half, I missed you so." He squeezed me tighter.
I laughed.
"So Kevin, my dear, what have you been up to?"
He let go of me straightening out his tight vest.
"Well as you know I run my own record company."
"Only 26 and already making it big, I bet you have no social life what's so ever."
"Well that's something I didn't miss." I smiled at him.
"Yeah we're putting out Nick's album at the end of this summer."
I choked on my drink.
"Nick's album? You mean your little brother Nick?" He nodded proudly.
"That's great for him," I said taking another sip of my drink.
"I think it's pretty great too." I heard a familar voice from behind me.
Kevin looked behind me and grinned.
"I think I'll leave you two alone to catch up," Kevin said bowing out.
I turned around.
"Hey Peyton, long time no see?" He smiled that grin of his. His curls bouncing as he pulled me in to hug.
"It's good to see you too Nick."
