Sen. Sanders made his opening statement as the Senate environment committee began to "mark up" major climate change and clean energy legislation. Meanwhile, every Republican committee member decided to not participate in the hearing.

chenchiheshang: @wearechangeraleigh such a old news i have read tans of blogs and reports verifying that the email is about the 'decline of divergence', only the morons in fox news cannot understand it. if you are also in academia, like me, you will read and see lots of words like "hike", "alter", the data, which the laymen won't understand what they mean.

chenchiheshang: @wearechangeraleigh i already read lots of article about it, don't think you are the only people know everything. the 'decline' means 'decline of divergence' btw, do you understand what is 'divergence'? i hope you know it. again, scientist use the words "hide" "alter" the data everyday, if you are not in academia, you won't know what they mean.

chenchiheshang: @wearechangeraleigh i read it from wikileaks, i don't think you know enough about 'divergnece' i hope you know something about calculus and probability. hopefully, the whole hypothesis (i also don't 'believe it, i call it hypothesis')is not based on single research carried out by single institute. the global warming hypothesis is based on the tans of observation in the past 100 years. even if there is some fraud in it, this won't change my mind

chenchiheshang: @wearechangeraleigh if you know something about resent Copenhagen diagnosis, you will see different scientists from different countries and different institutes claim that everything is developing faster then expected. the statistics data never 100% objective, they depend on the methodology, scientific studies are also full of social and manmade factors. but the over all picture is clear enough, whenever the conclusion is sound, it is verifiable by different people.

wearechangeraleigh: Sounds vague to me. Can you point to actual proof that "Global Warming" is man-made? I suppose if you pay a scientist enough he can come up with the science to prove it. That is what I gleamed from reading their emails. They even talked about redefining the "peer review process" so that conflicting views would be kept out.

chenchiheshang: @wearechangeraleigh if you are convinced that global warming is a fact, but not sure whether it is manmade, you can read some entries in wiki about greenhouse effect, which is a crucial reason why the earth has living things. and there is bunch of links in these pages too. if you really concerned related issue, you can also search 'energy lobby' and see how big energy companies (like petrol or coal based electricity) lobby and influence the congress and government.

wearechangeraleigh: These emails prove that there is a cover-up of the information, data manipulation to make it fit the global warming political agenda, and a silencing of any research that shows that it is a fraud. This shows that at least there is NOT A CONSENSUS on the science. I did look into the "divergence" issue you were talking about, but if you look at the emails and documents regarding the code and data you will see that they even use a variable called "fudge factor" and the comment says "Apply a VERY ARTIFICAL correction for decline!" What does that tell you about the validity of that algorithm?

wearechangeraleigh: The point is there is no global warming. You might as well say that you are ok with these criminals who faked the data, lied and committed criminal acts by denying FOIA requests, manipulated the algorithms, intimidated and suppressed other scientists and compromised the peer review process by preventing other scientists in that disagreed to get a pass and tax us all based on the fact that weather changes. Give me a break!
