Did you catch the comment that "they are not prisoners, they are not internees"--just before the commentator states that "the relocation community...bounded by a wire fence, and guarded by military police." Talks about NEWSPEAK, and this was in the 1940's.

katydidscorner: WWII was hell on earth. Thousands of US soldiers died in foreign lands. Food, etc. was rationed and women took over the workload of the men. The internment camps also saved the lives of these Japanese Americans, and I believe if they had not removed them to a safe zone, the "other" Americans would have burnt their homes to the ground, bullied their children to such an extent they would be tramatized for life, and even murder them. At the time, early 40s, it was the only sensible thing to do.
