Freki619: I can't help but feel this is satire, but I fear that's being too optimistic of people. I freely admit that the spear thing is a bit silly, but they're in rural Africa so it's not like it's a depiction of black in Harlem. As for claiming that the blacks are menacing that's the opinion of the observer. I personally don't feel threatened by the sight of black skin, but maybe this person does. It's a horror game, obviously it's not going to be all sunshine and smiles.
yojimbo400: Yeah but there are all kinds of stereotypes about black people (In the U.S. or anywhere) that are being played out here. The main character is very white and he is killing blacks! It's very clear really. The disease that ails the zombies in the game is only part of the story; in practical terms it is being used as an excuse to portray the mass murder of "pathological" or "violent" Africans.
Freki619: It's true I can't speak for the ways others interrupt things. If someone feels africans are violent or pathological, or feels that whites/asians see it as a way of mass murdering them for entertainment based on their skin. I can't get into someone's head and see that this is the case. But to extract that concept as the intent of the creators just seems contrived to me. I know Japan still has a lot of issues with skewed views of outsiders, but I just don't feel this was meant in this way.
yojimbo400: I agree that it was not their intent. But that doesn't really matter. Racism is and has been real and it does real damage to those affected by it. Intent does not matter because the damage is done regardless. If I kick the air repeatedly and you're standing behind me and I kick behind me, it wasn't my intention to strike you, but I'm still responsible. You still feel pain and I still get to apologize. I must then be careful of my actions. So must these game creators
Freki619: And I agree with you about the responsibility to address those you've harmed and apologize regardless of intent in order to gain mutual respect. I just can't help but feel some people such as the creator of this video, go out of there way to find points which reinforce their own feelings of being discriminated against. I think communication is necessary, but when dealing with the fanaticism of these people, it's hard to come to a consensus of equality, the goal post will constantly be moved.
guitarpetey89: O_o wtf is all this you think anyone who is making world wide products will wanna risk anything by being racist? hell no its a dumb business move people are just seeing this the wrong way its a game enjoy it
EbonVoicez: People place racist material in products all the time. Go to the movies, watch TV.
yojimbo400: Yeah, you'll find racism in all mass media. Often it's subconscious on the part of the authors. But if nobody calls them out, they'll continue. I wouldn't be surprised if some of our Japanese brothers suffer from a bit of self-hate. And given the chance to be "honorary whites" would do so gladly. It's sad but entirely possible.
speedracer928: this dude is whacked and a racist.... and is ignorant or just evil. one or the other
raonipaes: This is what psychology calls "Paranoia" No racism in RE5. The zombies would all be white and blond if this was happening on Norway. They would be multi-racial if the game was set in Brazil.
TruthHurtzAllDaTime: @speedracer928 explain devil why is he a racist??? That doesn't work so you better go to something else...OH I KNOW ACTUALLY SPEAK FROM SOMETHING YOU KNOW ABOUT DEVIL.
