fatpius: fear and repetition......equates, false sense of security. a mule/horse/goat/whatever walking for years in a circle, making syrup etc., will continue to walk in circles when given 'freedom'. doesn't say much for the human race.
SpringboardShop: Even after DNA evidence proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt that a person that had been found guilty of a crime had actually not committed that crime, the attorney who prosecuted their case would not believe they were innocent. These attorneys gradually came to the realization that it was they who had made a mistake but for them, it was like looking into the fire.
networkingman: Excellent video, nice use of graphics in the beginning. You hit the nail on the head with most people, "I can't be bothered". Sad isn't it?!
zalida100: Hi Networkingman I agree - nice video There is more to be learned here. Plato's cave may help to show a few other things. (Haggsbo and Jim did a great job here) Go to the wiki page haggsbo has in the more info section. At the bottom of the wiki page click on the "animated interpretation" under "external links". This shows a nice (brief) animation of the story. I think the allegory tells us more than Jim has told us. (Because of video time constraint I'm sure) cont'd....
zalida100: cont'd... After returning from the cave to tell the fellow prisoners what is up on the surface, not only do the prisoners not understand their old friend because he speaks of unfamiliar things, but they see how being at the surface has damaged their friend's eyesight and "distorted" his mind. I think in the original story (I'm not certain) that the 1st prisoner invites his friends to come with him to the surface. Of course, since they have seen the injury done to their friend from...cont'd...
zalida100: ..cont'd... his journey to the surface, obviously they are afraid to suffer a similar fate of going half blind and crazy etc. They aggressively decline his invitation to the surface. Does this look familiar yet? Remember there are those that do not wish to be unplugged from the matrix, and they will actually defend it violently if necessary. etc etc I just wasn't sure if you had thought about this. Quite interesting. Thanks very much for the vids networkingman, Haggsbo and Jim - Ure a star.
haggsbo: Thanks for the kind comment and on topic points!
haggsbo: You are correct here regarding the guy returning as well as the issues with trying convince the others. This was kind of Off the Cuff.
zalida100: This was "off the cuff" but was a very thoughtful video to make, and very well done. Very classy. Much appreciated. Now I've finished with the ego stroking........... When's the next installment of the Jim + Haggsbo series?? Come on! come on.... don't keep us waiting or we'll go and watch celebrity dancing or something... (The next vid better be up to scratch too. We won't accept declining standards). Some more philosophy please. (I don't know much of it, but I like it) Cheers for now
