12 Video Wall 2 Video

1.Firstly, images from a fruit machine were taken into Photoshop, resized and saved as twelve separate images of the same size. These were imported into After Effects.
2.Then using rulers and guides on Photoshop, a grid image was created of a 4x3 table with a white background and black rounded rectangles. This was saved as a PSD file and imported into After Effects.
3.The grid image was placed on the composition and since it was saved as a PSD, each rounded rectangle was saved as an individual image, so had its own layer on the composition timeline.
4.Then, each fruit machine image was placed on the timeline below its own rounded rectangle. Each once was scaled and positioned to fit behind it correctly.
5.The next step was to make each image apply itself using the Alpha Matte function to its corresponding rounded rectangle. With this done for each image, the rounded rectangles were replaced with rounded fruit machine images.
6.The composition was pre-composed and opened in a new composition. A card wipe effect was added and the row and column figures were amended to 4x3. Then, using the jitter controls, it was possible to rotate each image around its centre axis.
7.Next, the fruit machine image composition was duplicate and colour balanced. The layer was made with increased blues while the reds and greens were totally brought down. This layer was then set as the background layer to the card wipe and its visibility on the timeline switched off.
8.The effect now was that as each fruit machine image rotated, its back was that of the blue version of the image.
9.The layers position was then key-framed so the card-wiping images moved from the top of the screen to the centre and brought forward on the z-axis to the size increased. The card wipe sequence was also key-framed to jitter along the z-axis. This meant that cards would fly in and out of the screen and finish together. Motion blur was added to the rotations and movement.
10.A background solid was added and a ramp effect was used with a radial gradient colour of orange to yellow from the centre of the screen.
11. Next a block dissolve was added to the start and the end of the card wipe sequence so its dissolves in at the start and fades away at the end of the sequence.
12.To enhance the animation, an audio track was added to the composition.
