~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ UP's North Local at Wilmington, IL. Wonderful power! Kicked out by police! Video
~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~
Union Pacific's North Local heads south through Wilmington, IL., with six cars, bound for Bloomington. The power is wonderful! Today, we have UP GP40-2 1531, GMTX GP38AC 2163 and UP GP40-2 1501. I also really liked the friendly wave from the conductor.
This train used to normally run during the night, however, it's lately been arriving into Joliet, northbound during the late morning to early afternoon. It's really nice to have a freight train running on the UP Joliet Sub during the daylight, but it's definitely a sign of things to come. Once the new Global 4 Intermodal Facility is finished in June of 2010, in Joliet, the Joliet Sub will be hopping with freight trains.
After catching it here, we headed a little further south to Braidwood. We set up at a nice spot in town. We weren't even there five minutes when a Braidwood police car pulled up. The cop scolded us for taking videos and pictures, saying that it's illegal, "especially around telephone pole wires." Therefore, we were told to leave immediately. As soon as we left, I called the Braidwood Police Department (non-emergency number) and left a voice message to the Braidwood Chief of Police. I'm still waiting for a call back.
HighIronofWisconsin: Nice video.
GSMR1702: its illegal to take pictures around telephone wires?? wtf?
k5lta: fuck the police man..Fuck The POlice..
Railfan77: Geez!! Cops don't know what they're thinking, they need more time in law school, that officer I bet doesn't know what the hell he is thinking, illegal to film around telephone wires and poles? WTF?!
NicTrain35: RIP Don Knotts.
NicTrain35: Yep, it was the craziest thing I've ever heard.
NicTrain35: Yeah, he even did an illegal U-turn in the middle of the dangerous Route 53. Sure, he's a cop and has the right to do that, but he should still be setting a good example. It's not like he had to handle an "emergency."
staintedcards: yeah good luck on the cheif returning your call LOL we all know he aint gonna call
Railfan77: What a scoundroll!!!!!!!!!
mafarnz: As long as you were on public property, they had absolutely no right to kick you out. That's BS. Cool power though.
NicTrain35: I plan on giving him another call tomorrow, unless he calls me back before.
NicTrain35: Yep, I was standing just off the road, not on any kind of private property.
chytown2k: Yes great power, but sad to see most of the old switchers are becoming remote controlled down here in the south. UP is unmanning the switchers and cutting jobs, so soon you won't see the switchers with engineers anymore!!!! So sad
dutchtrainmanserie22: Awesome video 5*****
yurysausage: great video up is sooo dumb ive seen longer local trains with less power
trainsruleandroll: Yup, been there with getting in trouble with police, military police that is. Awesome Power!!!
Jeffwecker81: since you were on public property, Deputy Fife had no right to make you leave. I would go down to the station, and insist to talk to someine
NicTrain35: That would, indeed, be very sad if all the old switchers became remote controlled. Hopefully, the economy can continue to pick up and help that out.
NicTrain35: Thanks, Guido!
NicTrain35: Thanks, Eric! Yeah, this train is usually pretty short. I did see it once with a pair of UP SD70M's and it was about 50 cars long.
NicTrain35: Thanks, Carlos! Yeah, the cops are getting worse and worse with railfans.
NicTrain35: Hi Jeff, Since I didn't get a call back from the police chief, I plan to schedule a time to head down to the station and discuss it with somebody there.
yurysausage: wow funny ive seen a pair of g.e.'s pulling bout 70 cars or so
UPTurner: Awesome Video Nick!! That's a great consist! Too bad about that police insident, the deputy must have been having a bad day or something.
yourpageitsasheed: wow exellents videos¡¡¡¡¡¡¡5*
