IGP calls on the Maha Nayaka theras of Malwatta and Asgiriya 7-11-09 Video

The IGP has informed the Mahanayake theras of the Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters that a five year programme would be launched to create a disciplined and a dignified Police Service.
The IGP paid homage to the sacred tooth relic this afternoon after assuming duties. Thereafter he held a cordial discussion with Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela. Mahanayake of the Malwatta chapter Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera told the IGP that special emphasis should be placed on security of the country as well as the discipline of the Police service. The IGP also called on the Maha Nayaka of the Asgiriya chapter Ven. Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkita Thera. DIG Gamini Nawaratna, Pujitha Jayasundara and Jayatha Gammanpila were also present. A guard of honour was also held at the Kandy Police for the visiting IGP
