GMTV looks at the continuing row over Jedward, and Simon Cowell's U-turn Video
Was Simon Cowell right to let the public decide who to save on Sunday's X Factor? And why his sudden support for the twins? GMTV's Elaine Willcox is in the boys' hometown of Dublin, then John Stapleton talks to PR guru Mark Borkowski
eire18: ha ha ha ha relax its a tv show. Its not a live or death situation. Thats why i thinks it is sad and funny because people rang in and complained about it. It wasnt Simons fault Jedward and Lucy where in the bothom 2 and as a Judge Simon can pick whoever he wants to save he si a judge. Im guessing u where 1 of the people who complained about it and ur not a JEDWARD fan. REMEMBER ITS A TV SHOW JEDWARD TO WIN
HisAbsolutism: LOL. Does anyone else think it ironic that people want to diminish the quality of the show now? Yes -- it's a television show just like Millionaire is a television show. It doesn't mean that it's any less important. The contestants see this as their biggest dreams coming true -- and Lucie even said that these are the biggest moments of her life. So, really, I don't think anyone respects the position that it's "just" a TV show when this has so much riding on it. This is their life.
merliniandruid: Lucie Jones Was Best.....ITS A FIX....SWITCH OFF X FACTOR.....DEPORT SIMON COWELL....
Islwynpaul: Simon Coward, turn it off do not watch.
Islwynpaul: He is a money grabbing cynic and has duped you big time. It is all fixed - he is not a stupid man but he is a control freak with only profit on his mind. For him there is no wrong nor right, simply profit. If that rocks your boat that's up to you. But think what it's doing to your soul.lol
mattpottwolf: i did not complain im not sad i just fucking hate them they cant sing for shit its a singing competion not entertainement...
crazydaveactor: Capnkirkus I agree with what you say, they are entertaining but the show is also about talent also, if you are entertaining but can't sing i can't see the point really.
ZanxKrogian: If you were in her position and got kicked off but two talentless, cocky idiots of course you would be annoyed. Stop thinking about yourself because it has nothing to do with you and think about who is getting through and for what....? nothing
ZanxKrogian: everyone doesn't like them half of the finalist haven't even been in the bottom two and everyone hasn't had complaints and had boo's when they started singing. That means at the moment they have one of the least amount of fans if not the least. People who find them entertaining must be sad!
CapnKirkus: They do have talent though, being entertaining is a talent in itself. True the singing isn't good, but it makes a change from the usual boring, droning X Factor winners that never get any differently. Watching Jedward makes me want to watch the X Factor, but practically everything else I've seen on the show before made me hate it. That's something surely?
CapnKirkus: Why don't you just stop watching it :S
CapnKirkus: Amen!
CapnKirkus: It's a circus. People basically enter the show knowing that they're whoring themselves to the media to persue their dreams. Like Big Brother, BGT or any other reality talent show. So it might not be 'just' a TV show, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. If anything these people should be doing it properly instead of taking the easy route and going on TV. That's what people used to do. Name one groundbreaking, genre defining act that wins the X Factor and I'll take back what I say about it.
CapnKirkus: different*
CapnKirkus: The public had the vote, Jedward got more votes. So that means the public voted for them more, right? So they had more fans watching? It's common sense really. If they get more votes it means there's more people voting that like Jedward. So you can all winge and moan and say noone likes them all you want, but the truth is that more people clearly support them than people that don't. So I guess you're all going to have to live with it.
merliniandruid: The Moral Of The Story Is....Stop Watching The X Factor Charade...Stop voting and wasting Your money....Result You Will Feel Better...
HisAbsolutism: Honestly, all you accomplished was to make yourself sound like another jealous peon that couldn't make it in life. Leona Lewis? Alexandra Burke? Susan Boyle? All of these acts have tenfold more talent than you ever will, and I seriously doubt that you've ever had to put up with as much stress that these people would around the finals in your entire lifetime. Sorry if I come off mean -- it's just that it sickens me when the public act like spoiled children that don't know their place.
CapnKirkus: I never said these people have no talent, I just said that they bore me, and they bring nothing new and original to the music industry. But good on them making millions. I'm not at all jealous, I can't sing, I never said I could, or wanted to. Nothing I said was because I envied anyone that has won the X Factor. It was because people are being childish over a TV contest, because they're annoyed that their favourite acts aren't winning. And don't get me started on stress.
leighton161: what does this dickhead know, lucie could have won the show.. simon just said that she couldn't to make it look better for him when he put the twins through. and actually despite what this nobody says i won't be watching the show again because its a joke that lucie has left.
HisAbsolutism: You're contradicting yourself all over here. Do you think that they have talent or not? If you think they do but find them boring, then you just admitted that you have no taste in music if you can't find talented music entertaining -- and I therefore find it hard to believe that your opinion of this art has any credence at all. You have no right to criticize the music industry. If you think that they have no talent, then what have you done that has been better? You lose either way.
HisAbsolutism: Oh, and as for people being so adamant about their stars winning, I know that the feeling of actually having a strong stance on something in society may be alien to you, but have you ever began to wonder that maybe this "TV contest" is more important than you think, in that it contains the contestants' dreams in being a superstar, and the people get to decide whether they win it or not? You've obviously never had to do anything as important to feel that, but try to keep an open mind. :)
CapnKirkus: Sorry. But I'm finding it hard to be constructive here. You're talking bollocks. Total bollocks. I love music, music is everything to me, but I don't appreciate manufactured TV contest winners singing other people's music. I prefer musicians that write their own music, and play their own instruments. The X Factor is in a totally different league in my eyes. Of course my opinion has credence. Would you rather me come here saying OMG LIEK LUCIE IS SUCH A FAG LOL? I don't understand you people.
CapnKirkus: There's having a stance on something in society, and there's whining about the X Factor. People seem more bothered about Jedward than the recession! And anyway, you're contradicting yourself big style here. By supporting Jedward, that shows that I have some appreciation for people pursuing their dreams, right? Just because I'm not your typical OMGLEONALEWIS X Factor worshipping sheep, doesn't mean I'm a cold, heartless dragon. At first I admit I thought it was a laugh, but they've grown on me
sorted2: I would love to see Jedward actually win. I've been avoiding X Factor up to now but I've found myself turning on just to see them. I despise the anti-pop Simon Cowell and his endless mini-diva proteges. Great to see two kids with energy and boundless Pop fun in them! Reclaim Pop and f""k the Powell's of this world and their selfish financial interests. Go Jedward!
neilengland1977: check me out im singing a song called when you love someone, to find me type neil england rate and comment the video im needing a big break i also went to audtion at xfactor with jedward tell me if you think ive got the voice to make it
