More Centres to rehabilitate child soldiers Video

11,000 such child soldiers are under the protection of the troops. They are being provided with education in addition to imparting vocational training. 14 Rehabilitation Centres are in operation. It will increase to 21 with the establishment of the seven new Centres.
Minister Milinda Moragoda visited the premises where the new Rehabilitation Centres will come up. He visited the Rehabilitation Centre at Thampamaduwa in Vavuniya and exchanged views with the child soldiers. They said the Government was meeting all their requirements. The Governments intention is to get their support for the development of the country by making them good citizens and granting them vocational education. In addition to Vavuniya, Rehabilitation Centres are operative in Jaffna. Commissioner General for Rehabilitation Daya Ratnayake in addition to a group of local and foreign representatives joined the Justice Minister in this observation tour
