125 Gallon Turtle Tank Video

This is my new 125 gallon turtle tank. I picked it up a few days ago from kijiji. I will be using play sand as a substrate, planting it with live greens, and tons of miscelaneus fish.

I have 3 fluval 4 filters, but going to uprade to a fluval 404 canister filter.

There are 7 Turtles in here : 3 Male red-ear sliders, 1 male southern painted turtle, 1 male mississippi map turtle, and 2 peninsula cooters. They all get along great, no fighting what so ever, mainly because there is no female to fight for. that was my tactic. another video will be up soon (when it's fully finished.)

Turtle10013: I strongly do not recommend using play sand as a substrate! It's dangerous for aquatic turtles, and they could swallow it, too. PLEASE don't use that as a substrate! In fact, you don't need a substrate at all. I don't have a substrate and my aquarium is fine.

vickers49: yeah, i think it's the inevidable, if a turtle wants to swallow a pebble, he will, sand, or anything else he will.. rivers, ponds, lakes, etc, they all have, rock, pebbles, garbage, and sand. they have been good for centuries. i guess it's just personal preference. there are tons of people on youtube that have sand as substrate. they all have informed me that they have never encountered an issue. i tried the no substrate, and it looks hideous, might as well keep them in a water proof box.

Turtle10013: Play sand is a HORRIBLE substrate, do NOT listen to what others tell you when they say it's alright. There's plenty of other things you can use, like large river stones. But PLEASE do not use the sand.
