JUDY GARLAND: DUET WITH ELLA FITZGERALD, 'I CAN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING BUT LOVE.' Video

There are certain things in music history that never happened ... this is one of them - a duet with Ella Fitzgerald 'The First Lady Of Song' & Judy Garland 'The World's Greatest Entertainer.' I decided to create a glimpse of what could have been ... So, here it is ... Judy & Ella singing 'I Can't Give You Anything But Love'.
This is not meant to be a divisive comparison, nor am I attempting perfection. I just wanted to know, to hear ... & I SMILED. I hope you will, too. Both of these Songbirds spread thier wings & soared, taking us on musical journey's that will never be forgotten. I honor thier paths ... different - separate - unique ... & yet the same beauty of thier hearts is what they gave the world in music ... They will play a harmony in our souls forever.
This is for Judy & Ella ... Ella & Judy ... And for all who love these Great Ladies Of Song. Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 June 15, 1996), also known as "Lady Ella", and the "First Lady of Song", was an American jazz vocalist. With a vocal range spanning three octaves, she was noted for her purity of tone, phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like"improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing. She is widely considered one of the supreme interpreters of the Great American Songbook. Over a recording career that lasted 59 years, she was the winner of 13 Grammy Awards, and was awarded the National Medal of Art by Ronald Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George H. W. Bush.

'I Can't Give You Anything but Love' is generally considered to have been written by Jimmy McHugh
(music) and Dorothy Fields (lyrics), although some claims have been made that the music was by Fats Waller and the lyrics by Andy Razaf.

I can't give you anything but love, baby.
That's the only thing I've plenty of, baby.
Dream a while, scheme a while,
you're sure to find happiness and, I guess, all those things you've always longed for.
Gee, it's great to see you looking swell, baby.
Diamond bracelets Woolworth doesn't sell, baby.
Till that lucky day you know darn well, baby,
I can't give you anything but love.
