Ambassador visits Armagh Video

Armagh has welcomed the Syrian Ambassador to the UK, Dr Sami Khiyami, as part of his two day visit to Northern Ireland, promoting bilateral relations in the political, cultural, educational and economic fields.
Welcoming Ambassador Khiyami to the oldest City in Ireland, Mayor of Armagh, Cllr Thomas OHanlon said that the ancient civilization emanating from Syria and its location as a meeting point between continents, were qualities the people of Armagh could relate to.
The Syrian Ambassador had wanted to seize the opportunity to listen to learn about the latest developments of the Peace Process in Northern Ireland as a valuable experience in conflict resolution. During a presentation on the historic Navan Fort (Emain Macha) and the City Gaol, the Ambassador was provided with the important history of Armagh and the vibrant future being developed.
