Kolappakkam is a small village near Guindy - Chennai - Tamil Nadu. Some time back Two Thirthankaras stone idols were found lying upside down in a small piece of corner vacant land in a prominent location of the village. The finding of the idols was published in news papers. The unknown information is that the small piece of corner vacant place was the original site site of a Jinalayam (Jain temple) in the past. This is proved by the the stone pillars left lying there on the ground. The villagers say that there was a temple which for reasons unknown vanished. The street where the Jinalayam stood was once called Vellayan street meanig the street of Vellalars- Nainars(Jains). In Tamil nadu the jains- nainars are called by a common name Vellayan- This is the history of the glorrious past.
any how to construct a shrine to keep these idols, Bhumi Pooja was performed on 16-10-09. sri M. K. Jain a philanthropist as he does invaluable service ti jaina community in Tamil nadu motivated to construct the Jinalayam.
