Penalties are notched up for being too fast or too slow. 4 faults are added for errors or crossing tracks or knocking poles down. closest to the optimum time with the least faults is the winner. Vic qualified for this championship at Norton heath in october where the four qualfiers had all jumped clear and were all with 0.5 secs of the optimum time, a close contest indeed.
