As the sun peaked through the clouds at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the William Donald Schaefer Sculpture was unveiled with the man of the hour looking on before a crowd of hundreds. Schaefer smiled and wiped tears from his eyes as confetti shot into the sky and the flags surrounding the 7-foot bronze statue were lifted away by a big crane unveiling the artwork honoring him.

On the 88th birthday of Governor William Donald Schaefer, the City of Baltimore will officially unveil a sculpture to honor the former Maryland Governor, Maryland Comptroller, Baltimore City Mayor and Baltimore City Council member. As the statue was unveiled, Schaefer smiled as he wiped away tears. He says he was moved by the tribute in what he calls the "twilight" of his life.
