This is a permanent split-phase AC induction motor (ie capacitor start/run) that I made for my graduate mechatronics class at UT. The windings are wrapped with ~220 turns of 32 AWG magnet wire. Power is from a 20 V transformer (@ 60 Hz, of course). The phase shift for the auxiliary windings is from a 220 uF capacitor.
