A New York City police officer is alleging that his department has arrest quotas that result in innocent people being arrested.Officer Adil Polanco told WABC channel 7 in New York that his precinct -- the 41st in the Bronx -- has a "20 and one" monthly quota, meaning each officer is expected to issue at least 20 summonses per month, and carry out at least 1 arrest. If the officer doesn't meet the quota, the result can be denial of overtime pay, shift changes and denial of days off, Polanco said. The force's "obsession with keeping crime stats down" is resulting in innocent people being arrested and charged, and often the targeted are minorities, reports WABC."Our primary job is not to assist anybody, our primary job is get those numbers and come back with them," Polanco saidwabc obtained audio purportedly of shift supervisors at the 41st precinct talking openly about the quota system."If you think one and 20 is breaking your balls, guess what? www.timesonline.co.uk Nick Griffin has defended the violent ejection of a Times journalist from the British National Partys extraordinary general meeting on Sunday, insisting that it would not go soft on political correctness. The BNP chairman told members: Millions of viewers will have seen the report of us ejecting a lying Times journalist from the press conference. Thats not the actions of a snivelling PC party, but of an organisation that has had enough of being lied about. Richard Barnbrook, the bnps London Assembly member, had objected to an article in The Times on Saturday, which reported that he had been spat at in his local area and that some of his black and Asian neighbours were worried about visitors to his home. The Times reporter — Dominic Kennedy — was photographed being manhandled out of the meeting by BNP security guards on Sunday, one of whom grabbed the journalists nose. Yesterday the Labour Party described the bnps actions as a Nazi stormtrooper attack and...

HOMOSEXUAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE

HOMOSEXUAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE

The National Institutes of Health include "Poverty" in their list of risk factors for drug abuse: www.drugabuse.gov - Does this mean that poor people should not be allowed to marry, or that they are inferior? - The drug abuse risk of poverty can be explained and is of course not an innate part of having less available money. - In the same way, the slightly increased drug abuse by homosexuals can be explained and is not innately part of being homosexual. - Drug abuse is whidely recognised as being a coping mechanism (regardless of sexuality). - In the case of homosexuals, drug abuse is used as a coping mechanism due to heterosexism. - So again it is heterosexism that needs to change, and heterosexists criticizing LGBT drug abuse are hypocritical. - Mental health and substance abuse are interlinked (street drugs are sometimes used to self-medicate for existing mental health issues and/ or can lead to mental health issues). Multiple Studies indicate that increased internalized...

Power to the Jury - Ron Paul (3 of 3)

Power to the Jury - Ron Paul (3 of 3)

As citizens we only have two real powers to keep the Gov't in check: 1) The power to vote 2) The power of the jury In a trial by jury, the judge's job is to referee the trial and provide neutral legal advice to the jury, beginning with a full and truthful explanation of a juror's rights and responsibilities. But judges rarely "fully inform" jurors of their rights, especially their power to judge the law itself and to vote on the verdict according to conscience. Instead, they end up assisting the prosecution by dismissing any prospective juror who will admit to knowing about this right, starting with anyone who also admits having qualms with any specific law. In fact, if you have doubts about the fairness of a law, you have the right and obligation to find someone innocent even though they have actually broken the law! John Adams, our second president, had this to say about the juror: "It is not only his right but his duty...to find the verdict according to his own best...

Rapaport, January 20, 2010: Consumers Take Increasing Notice of Diamond-Mining Issues

(RAPAPORT) MVI Marketing recently asked consumers to weigh in on manmade diamonds versus mined diamonds. The results of this study showed that consumers were quite aware of the negative issues and challenges that plague the natural diamond-mining industry, with a majority of respondents reporting that they have taken actions that may lead them to reduce their mined diamond purchases. Rapaport News caught up with Liz Chatelain, the president of the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC), who explained what the survey results could mean in terms of opportunities for the diamond trade. Eleven percent of respondents told MVI that they had decided not to buy mined diamond jewelry, while eight percent decided not to give mined diamond jewelry as a gift. Nearly two in ten respondents have told their families and friends about the negative issues impacting mined diamonds and 16 percent reported that when they look for jewelry, they look for diamond alternatives. "Clearly, consumers are...
