Financial shares were retreating in mid-day trading as investors mulled disappointing data and mixed earnings. In financial sector news, Waddell & Reed Financial (WDR) said it struggled in the second quarter, saying net inflows for the second quarter were $731 million, down from $2.8 billion in the first quarter, Reuters reported. The firm said investors were reluctant to invest during economic uncertainty, according the report. Meanwhile, Moody's cut its outlook on Bank of America (BAC) Wells Fargo (WFC), and Citigroup (C) to "Negative" from "Stable," citing negative effects from the financial reform bill, Barron's reported.
