Our 11 week, 3 day old puppy Noaa (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and pronounced Noah) had a really good time retrieving the duck for us in the front yard today. I'm always amazed when these guys can carry something so big at such a young age. He and his brothers started carrying ducks almost 2 weeks ago! They would drag them before that! So much fun!!!

The beam trawl is an instrument that is towed along the seafloor (~ 5 minutes), to capture the fish and invertebrates that inhabit the benthic (bottom) environment. After logging the information of the catch only a few representative specimens are preserved, while all the others are returned to the sea. Transect Program beam trawls have been generously loaned by the SC Dept. of Natural Resources, and the NOAA National Ocean Service (Beaufort, NC).
