Doug riding Anawyn: Jumping and doing mounted archery!
Doug and Anawyn are both learning to jump right now, but have been doing mounted archery together since this summer. Anawyn is about three and a half years old, and began under saddle this summer. She is a draft-Paso cross from a rescue.They are starting to become quite the team! She is going to make an excellent war horse.

Oberon the mule: Jumping and doing mounted archery!
This is my friend Alan's mule I am training. His name is Oberon. Before today he had only done jumping out on the trail. Last night Doug made us some little jumps so we tried them out today. Then we did some archery! He was a little full of himself, and spunky from the cold weather. But I think he did pretty damn good for only a month of training! This is the first mule iv trained, so it is a learning experience for me, and a lot of fun!

Morioka Hachimangu Festival
I was back up in Morioka again for yet another festival, this time for the 300 year old Hachimangu Matsuri. The Hachimangu Matsuri is a 3-day festival with floats, music, dances, and yabusame (mounted archery). The floats take 6 months to decorate and 200 people are attached to each one. The floats depicted characters from Japanese and Chinese history/legend and Kabuki characters. ...
