I programmed an ATMega328 microcontroller! All it took was a chip, a serial port programmer, some wires, wire strippers, a couple LEDs, some resistors, a switch, a power supply, a battery, a laptop, four tutorials, Ubuntu IRC help, a couple bottles of Dr. pepper, a couple days, a bunch of mistakes, almost burning out a chip, a couple Liters of Arizona Iced tea, losing some sanity, and ten hours! I just built an electronic advent light. If it's in a bright environment, the microcontroller sleeps. When it becomes dark, the lights turn on and flicker like candles. The brightness is measured by one LED. The whole idea and implementation comes from tinkerlog.com GREAT idea in my opinion.
