The first of three videos demoing my casio VL1 based project. This one concentrates on manipulating the preset sounds and beats with the embedded delay and lfo to create electro rhythms and later on some very NIN year zero inspired sound effects over a distorted beat. Part two focuses on subtle melody and sound fx and part three shows it creating all out wall noise and PE style sonic hell. I can make these on request. PM me if you're interested.

Part two of three of my casio VL1 demos. This focuses on melody and subtle use of the LFO and embedded delay, moving on to trippy sound effects and then veering off into noise territory. This is a hinghon keyboard paired up with a casio VL1. The hinghon is hooked up to a sequencer which can be used to set 8 step patterns using the rotary selectors to assign different drums to each step. It has overdrive and pitch control. The driver for the sequencer also runs an LFO (lfo1) which can be routed to both the hinghon and the vl1. Good for syncing up the leads sounds from the vl to thew drum sequencer. Similar to my older kawasaki keys with extreme pitch, distortion and additional atari punk console. But now fitted with a pt2399 delay circuit. This vid shows the kind of atmospheres and drone you can make with the delay. The delay is set to be able to sweep to much longer intervals that it was meant for which has the bonus of causing the signal to degenerate into harsh glitching. Modified in a similar way to my other 505 except this one was already 'perma bent' to a minor degree when i picked it up. The drum sounds have always been slightly odd and the toms and low conga sound strange when you turn the pitch up beyond it's standard setting. Building a distortion circuit into it proved to be a major headache due to it's bizarre flaws so i took a look at www.burnkit2600.com and found a cool square wave injection modification there. Commodore 64 inspired chip tune and hi speed lfo drone. Another run on the dreadnought. This time with some c64 drums added in ableton live (taken from the games delta and armalyte) and a selection of hardcore drum hits later on to build the track. A good example of how this thing can be used in various lo-fi styles.

Deep crashed drone and glitching. The upper half of the dreadnought is crashed while the lower keys are used for playing and LFO action. Later in the vid the deep crash/glitch control is used to vary the processor crash.

Two circuit bent casios built into an old school wooden synth casing. Melodic, random, noisy, it pretty much does the lot. SA1 mods: distortion, pitch, filter, variable speed 2-8 step arpeggiator/LFO with depth control on each step, note hold on two switchable octaves, deep crash. PT10 mods: drone distortion, pitch, drum booster, lead booster, LFO with depth and rate.
